The NAIADE scientific chair, which will initially run for 4 years, will propose innovative solutions for modeling interactions between sailors and AI systems, while taking into account the specific challenges of the naval sector, characterized by some of the most complex technical systems in the world.
This program aims to characterize and understand various aspects of artificial intelligence applications in complex naval domains:
- The information transmitted to the sailor and its use, including its nature, level, granularity, semioticform and temporality ;
- Mariner interactions with AI systems;
- Behavior allogics and cognitive biases;
- Operation in degraded mode.
Two major themes
NAIADE scientific chair approaches AI through two major themes:
1
2
The aim of the cooperation between the founding membersis to increase and consolidate the partners’ level of excellence in training and research in human factors applied to Artificial Intelligence. Development work will cover scientific and technological knowledge, research prototypes and demonstrators, and the development of new processes.
The NAIADE Chair alsoaims to :
- develop training programs for French Naval Academy engineering students, IMT Atlantique engineering students, students from partner major schooland professionals, in order to enhance the expertise of the French Navy and naval industry;
- contribute to the training of scientific experts in cognitive, data and AI sciences applied to decision support in the naval field, at doctoral, specialized master’s and master’slevels;
- promote the influence of research teams throughs cientific publications;
- develop a force for proposals and consultancy in the scientific and technological field of cognitive sciences, data and AI applied to decision support in the naval domain, by comparing the respective experiences and skills of researchers, engineers and military executives from the French navy academy, IMT Atlantique, Naval Group and Thales.
